Natural Killer Cells

Natural Killer Cells Immunity

The antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) is a mechanism of cell-mediated body immune defense. Natural Killer (NK) cells are activated by binding to the antibody, attached to a cell displaying a peptide antigen through class I MHC molecule. Upon activation, NK cells release small granules containing perforin subunits and granzmes. Perforin forms pores in the cell membrane of the target cells, through which the granzymes can enter and induce either apoptosis or osmotic cell lysis
